In the historic port o’ Leith, tucked away on a cobbled street, sits a 13th century building called The Vaults. Sometimes when the nights are dark and the whisky flowing, the members get together and in the flickering firelight they tell a tale.
The story goes that if a member hesitates too long over their choice of single cask, single malt whisky, the fabled Vaults’ Spirit Cellars may appear before them. These cellars are a maze of curious rooms filled with games and inventions designed to guide a lost member towards their perfect tipple.
Each room contains a clever game or invention to bring the wayward member together with their perfect whisky whether it be by mood, personality, or a single preferred flavour or variety of flavours.
But this is no random game of chance. Each device is based upon the most commonly used whisky flavour categories that appear in the Society tasting notes: malty, fruity, floral, peaty, sweet, spicy, nutty and winey. Each device will return the closest match from the available whiskies.
All of the tasting notes from the Society whiskies have been linked in to the games and gadgets of the Spirit Cellars using some logical thinking and artistic licence. The Spirit Cellars will return the closest available match to your search criteria.
The Spirit Cellars draws its recommendations from whisky that is available to buy so you can be sure you’ll always be able to purchase the whisky that most closely matches your search criteria.
