Description

We sniffed, looked at each other, then sniffed again. "Curious", one panelist remarked, "most curious". The herbal complexity of sweet vermouth trickled over walnuts, figs and squidgy chunks of Turkish delight. Strong woody notes of oaked viognier wine gave a coconut and vanilla framework that encased warm leather and pineapple chunks soaked in rum. The rich palate moved our senses towards cherry liqueur and earthy pinot noir wine that thickened into a sticky cough syrup dusted with Chinese five spice. A heavy helping of ginger became a sponge cake dotted with glace cherries and a thick wedge of marzipan. Gloopy custard reintroduced fresh wood that rounded out the oaky finish with a suggestion of tobacco.
