Like working in the garden we were greeted with the fresh aromas of cut grass and clean earth but with floral notes of dried lavender and heather honey. Fresh strawberries had been collected in a wicker basket that sat amongst the daisies on the lawn. Water released a more waxy appeal similar to scented candles while the palate combined a sweet herbal note with cherry tomatoes, ripe oranges and the indulgent softness of clotted cream. Spiciness developed as chilli jam and ginger marmalade were spread onto rye bread, however the finish followed a vanilla ice cream route with the fine tannins of grape skin.
