The nose was a sweet and cereal snogfest – maple syrup granola bars, crunchy nut cornflakes, honey on toast, sticky toffee pudding and strawberry jam on croissants. The palate was intensely sweet, with rich honey, pain au chocolat, Nutella on toast and Wispa Gold – maybe also some coconut and slightly more tart fruits than the nose. The reduced nose was still sweet (now including crème caramel) – but it also found earthier notes of hessian, wood and autumn leaves. The reduced palate was both sweet and tart – wine gums, tinned fruit salad – overall an impressive impact – sweet, but sufficiently sinewy to lend interest.
