Plenty of fresh oak, vanilla custard, candied ginger and dark chocolate greeted the Panel with a late arrival of green apples and gooseberries. Tasting neat this fruity theme however continued; kiwis, bananas, pineapple cubes and French glace cherries all well balanced with a cinnamon and anise spiciness. A drop of water released aromas of charred oak, burnt caramel, bourbon vanilla, lemon curd and whipped coconut cream. Surprisingly even spicier on the palate, but now balanced by sweetness, like aniseed balls tea, a herbal tea blended with aniseed, star anise and liquorice which was accompanied by a bowl of porridge laced with spiced honey.
