This year, the SMWS doesn’t just turn 35 – 2018 has also been a record-breaking year for the Society in awards and spirits competitions around the world, with recognition in the Spirits Business Luxury Masters the latest accolade for our single cask, single malt

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society is celebrating after achieving the ultimate distinction in the Spirits Business Luxury Masters 2018 in the Ultra Premium category (over £100 per bottle).

The accolade comes after the Society was recognised for diversity, value and delectable whiskies in the Scotch Whisky Masters competition for 2018.

The Luxury Masters contest is one of the most renowned tasting competitions in the world which, according to The Spirits Business, aims at “finding and rewarding the finest luxury spirits brands available from all categories”.

Panels are chaired by The Spirits Business and whiskies are assessed “blind” by a panel of spirits specialists for whom “excellence is recognised by category, as well as for appearance, aroma and flavour”.
