Fancy getting a hands-on introduction to distilling? The SMWS is offering you the chance to do just that, with the opportunity for a Society member and their guest to take part in Ballindalloch Distillery’s Art of Whisky Making course in Speyside on Thursday, 26 April 2018.
The day-long course will involve a hands-on introduction to every part of the distilling process, from milling grain to filling casks, working alongside the distillery team. Participants should come prepared with robust shoes but will be provided with overalls and a light lunch at the distillery.
HOW TO ENTER
To enter the Art of Whisky Making competition, all you need to do is send an email with your name, Society member number and the subject line ‘Ballindalloch competition’ to firstname.lastname@example.org by 29 March.
The competition is open to SMWS members only and the guest of their choice. The winners will have to make their own way to and from Speyside and the prize only includes the Art of Whisky Making course and accommodation in the Craigellachie Hotel.

The competition is open only to current members of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, who can take one guest of their choosing to take part in the Art of Whisky Making Course.
Participants must be 18 years or over. Proof of identity and membership of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society will be required.
To enter, SMWS members should send an email with their name and Society member number and the subject line ‘Ballindalloch competition’ to email@example.com
The closing date for competition entries is 29 March, 2018. The winner will be drawn at random and notified by 30 March, 2018. If the winner cannot be contacted or is unable to comply with these terms and conditions, the SMWS reserves the right to offer the prize to the next eligible entrant drawn at random.
The competition prize includes places for two people on the Art of Whisky Making Course at Ballindalloch Distillery, Ballindalloch, Banffshire, AB37 9AA for a full day on Thursday, 26 April.
The competition winner and guest will also have accommodation provided at The Craigellachie Hotel, Victoria Street, Aberlour, Banffshire, AB38 9SR for two nights on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 April. There will be two rooms available.
The winners will have to make their own way to and from Speyside, and the prize only includes the Art of Whisky Making course and accommodation in the Craigellachie Hotel. Any additional expenses such as food, drink and travel expenses will be payable by the competition winner and guest.
The prize is as stated and is not transferable to another individual and no cash or other alternatives will be offered.
The winner agrees to the use of their name and photograph in any publicity following their participation in the Art of Whisky Making Course.
The winner will be drawn at random from all the entries received by the competition’s closing date of 29 March 2018.
