Description

The nose discovers wood char and spice (aniseed gobstopper, Victory V’s, mustard and wasabi); then a layer of fruit (blackberries, tinned pears, fruit cocktail, trifle) and some vague haberdashery. The neat palate is intense – mandarin, mango, cassis and ripe fig, with a bourbon tang, muesli sprinkled with ash, expanding chilli heat and a tannic leather finish. The reduced nose gets crisp, flinty white wine, cranberries, sherbet, fruit salad chews and fuchsia hedgerows. With water the palate turns to fruity confectionery – lime Starburst, lemon drops and Haribos, with vanilla panna cotta and lemon puffs – now silky smooth with a light tongue-numbing effect.
