The panel found this to be a beautifully integrated dram with a nose of figs, old toy cars, burnt orange twist, cedar and dark cherries. We also found a pervasive leafy quality with dunnage, hessian, light green and citrus fruits and chamomile tea. Water sweetened it globally we felt with notes including icing sugar, almond milk, malt loaf, Chambord, damp hay, clove rock, hibiscus and wild flowers. To taste there was an initial zing and fizz of sour plums, honeycomb, aged yellow Chartreuse, wild strawberries, blowtorched pears and gentle drying sensation. Reduced it became sweeter with barley sugar, lemongrass, banana bread, gingernuts, embers, fresh brioche and bay leaf. After 12 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead we transferred this whisky directly into PX for the rest of its maturation.
