Help - Frequently Asked Questions

How do I login to the website?
You can click on the “My Account” icon, which is located on the top right-hand side of each page. Alternatively, click here to be directed to the login page.

Don't worry, you can easily reset your password by visiting the account login page or by clicking here.
Can I have my order delivered to another address?
Yes, you can send items to a work address or a friend’s address, as long as it is an address within a country we can deliver to. When you place your order, you will have the chance to provide a delivery address which differs from your billing address.
How long will it take to receive my order?
Goods are usually dispatched within 48 hours of the order date for next day delivery. Though we try our best to have all parcels delivered as soon as possible, some bottles may take a maximum of 2 weeks to get to you.
Can I delay my order?
No, once an order is placed, there is no way of delaying it.
What happens if I am not there when the delivery is made?
If you are not home to sign for your order, the driver will leave an attempted delivery calling card. This will contain contact details for you to re-arrange delivery or pick up your parcel directly from their depot.
It is possible to collect my order from one of your venues?
Unfortunately, it is not possible. All our online and telephone orders are dispatched from a secure warehouse and we do not have the facility to store orders at the venue. If, however, you would prefer to purchase directly from the venue, then please visit the bar during opening hours.
Can I send a bottle abroad?
We can deliver within the EU (except Denmark and Sweden where there are active local branches) but unfortunately not to the rest of the world. However, there may be a Society branch within the county you would like to deliver to. Please visit our page The Society Around the World to find the contact details of a Society branch near you.
I have not received my tickets for an event?
We do not issue physical tickets. Just arrive at the venue with your email confirmation and we will have your name on an attendance list at the door.
I am a Member of another Society branch overseas – do I have the same Member privileges in the UK?
Absolutely! Your Society membership is a global passport to branches around the world – with global benefits. You will not be able to log into the UK website as an overseas Member, but please call or email our office to organise any purchases/event bookings and we shall be more than happy to help. If you think you are here to stay, or for a prolonged time, we can organise for your membership to be transferred to the UK branch and provide you with a new UK Membership card and website log in.
Can I bring a friend to the society?
Of course. All members can bring up to three non-member guests with them to the Society in London, The Vaults in Edinburgh and the Members' Lounges at 28 Queen Street in Edinburgh. The Kaleidoscope Whisky Bar and Dining Room Restaurant at 28 Queen St have no restrictions.

How much does delivery cost?
We use DHL to deliver our whisky due to the world class international delivery service they offer.

Delivery to mainland UK and Northern Ireland is FREE* for members under our Free Standard Delivery Offer (*excludes Membership Welcome Pack, further T&Cs apply click here for details), and costs £3 for Free Sample Subscribers.

Delivery of our Membership Welcome Pack costs £8 to UK Mainland and Northern Ireland addresses and is charged as normal in other countries.

There is an additional £6 charge for remote rural addresses in any country. To search or download the list of Remote Area Postcodes from DHL, click here.

Delivery charges to Europe vary by country; please see the table below for details. For larger orders to Europe, (typically over 8 bottles) there is £1.20 charge per kilo over 10kg.

As a Free Sample Subscriber, can I visit SMWS Members’ Rooms?
At our 28 Queen Street venue, you’ll be able to visit our new Kaleidoscope Whisky Bar and Dining Room restaurant but you won’t be able to use our two private member lounges. Our Members’ Rooms at The Vaults in Leith and 19 Greville Street in London remain for members only, as a sample subscriber you won’t be able to visit.
Can I buy membership outside the UK?
