The nose’s initial paint became fruit – apple, pear, raspberry, melon, gooseberry, lemon and Key lime pie – beyond that, teasing, tantalising, light floral drifts of rosebuds, lavender and shrubberies after rain – all cuddled close in creamy vanilla oak. The delicate side of the palate produced raspberry ripple ice-cream, Pavlova, tangy citric zing and vanilla sponge, but it also had a full-on, mouth-filling heat with flavours of chilli, ginger, liquorice imps, humbugs and tannic oak. The reduced nose had honey on wood, cottage garden perfumes and high tea cake selections. The reduced palate was a satisfying combination of citrus, flowers and willow sprigs.
