How many guests can I bring to the SMWS Members’ Rooms?
You’ll be able to sign in up to three guests at our Members’ Rooms at The Vaults, 19 Greville Street and at our two private member lounges at 28 Queen Street. Our new Kaleidoscope Whisky Bars and Dining Room restaurant are open to all, you may bring as many guests as you like.
How Do I Order A Replacement Card?
If you have lost your membership card then simply let the Membership Services Team know via email: sales@smws.com, Telephone: 0131 554 3451 (Mon - Friday 9am to 4.45pm) or via the live chat messaging that should appear in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Alternatively if you let a member of staff know at your favourite venue we can pass a message throguh to the right team and arrange for a new card to be send out. 
Can I buy membership outside the UK?
» If you live in in the UK or anywhere in the EU except for Denmark, you can make full use of SMWS membership and can sign up here in the UK or at smws.com
» If you live in a country where we have an active and supported local branch, you should join locally. This includes USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Denmark, & Switzerland; please see our International Branches page for details.
» If you live anywhere else in the world, you can also sign up here in the UK or on smws.com but for now we may not be able to ship orders to you, so you would need to have an address in the UK or EU to receive orders.
Will I receive mail from SMWS?
We’ll keep in touch with by email if you agree to it when signing up to SMWS, but you can unsubscribe from emails any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link in an email or signing in to smws.com and amending the newsletter settings in your profile.
How Do I Introduce A Friend To The Society?
Simply visit: https://smws.referralcandy.com/ and generate a sharing link. For every successful new member you introduce you will be rewarded with online voucher codes. Your friends will also benefit from initial discounts on the purchase of their membership packs.
How do I renew my Membership?
If you are already a member, nothing changes. You can continue to pay for your renewal as you have in the past either by Direct Debit, on line or responding to the renewal letter you will get sent by us. Free Sample Subscribers do not pay any renewal fees.
Can I cancel my membership?
You may let your membership lapse when your renewal is due and sign-up as a free subscriber, please be aware that you will lose certain membership benefits. If you pay your SMWS renewal by Direct Debit, please notify us and your bank that you’d like to cancel payment.
Why are you no longer offering free subscription?
Removing our free subscription option comes as a direct result of our recent member survey, where we asked members for their thoughts on what the Society means to them. Unsurprising, one of the most valued benefits of being a Society member is having exclusive access to our exceptional single cask whiskies. We have taken this opportunity to review who can purchase our whiskies, and have taken the decision to remove the ‘Sample Subscriber’ membership category.
Are there Email Addresses for The Venues?

Can I purchase online before I’ve received my activation code?
No, unfortunately you will need to receive your activation code and activate your account before online transactions can be carried out. This is a process we intend to review in the future as part of our continuing efforts to improve our service for our members.
What discount does Membership get in venues?
The Vaults, Greville Street and 28 Queen Street are members only venues so the pricing is set to member only prices. In both Kaleidoscope Edinburgh on Queen Street and Kaleidoscope London on Devonshire Square Members will receive 10% discount on all food and drinks.
Are There Any Changes For Shipping Costs?
Our delivery partner is DHL and we use standard delivery tariffs as set by our partner. We strive to offer free delivery when we can and are able to offer this for our members in the UK, with the exception of some remote delivery locations. – More information about delivery costs can be found here: https://www.smws.com/delivery
As a new member can I start a Direct Debit?
o Unfortunately due to the timing processes with the banks we can’t take Direct Debit for your first payment. However if you would lie to arrange Direct Debit to handle your renewals, members can download the direct debit form here. Once you have completed the form and dropped it in at your bank you can contact the team on +44 131 555 2929 (Monday – Friday 09:00 to 16:45 UK Time) and let us know you would like to set up direct debit.
