An undeniably inviting bronze hue in the glass. The nose matches the depths of that colour with a hugely dense earthiness. A rancio drenched old sherry bodega with salty liquorice, ancient balsamico, prune jelly, bramble wine, cough syrups, coal scuttles and bitter chocolate. A almighty sticky chunk of date loaf slathered in long-aged Boal Madeira. Water brings aged mead, Euthymol toothpaste, lanolin, sourdough bread, sunflower oil and marzipan. The mouth is extremely dense. A layered, fatty cauldron of walnut wines, old Burgundy, mineral oil, wood polish, beeswax, raisins stewed in Cognac, lamp oil, hessian cloth, fig jam and that earthy, rumbling PX character daubed over everything. Water unearths further notes of aged Cognac, old leather, cigar humidors, moist earth, petrichor, leaf mulch and sultana loaf. A wonderfully thrilling black pepper and watercress quality towards the finish keeps everything alive and kicking.
