We were transported into an Indian kitchen where plenty of spices were being used in dishes of crispy baked kale, seasoned with Garam masala and ginger, as well as chicken curry with spinach and fenugreek. On the palate neat, like dunking dark chocolate digestive biscuits into a very strong pine smoked (Lapsang souchong) black cup of tea. When adding water, like a sherry Vermouth with the scent of orange peel, coriander and a fragrant whiff of old roses. To taste, bittersweet with hints of cinnamon baked plums and a touch of toasted oak in the finish. After thirteen years in an ex-bourbon hogshead we transferred this whisky into a first-fill PX hogshead.
