A big fug of mothballs, cigarette ash, wood embers and green pepper at first. Also dry earthiness, antiseptic, smoked German dark beers, barley wines and mercurochrome. Some kippers doused in TCP and the scent of molten plastic near a bonfire. Reduction brings out smoked cornflakes, scampi fries, burnt bacon, BBQ char, 80 shilling ale, disinfectant, coal tar soap, plum eau de vie and oily fabrics. In the mouth we find molten plasticine studded with fisherman's friends. There's also funny notes of smoked chalk, flaming pencils, salted pistachios, hospital floor cleaner, soot, hot mud and crushed aspirin. Dilution brings a briny note along with kiln smoke, seared steak, toasted oatmeal, soy sauce, gravel and lemony goat cheese.
