A sublime aroma aged herbal liqueurs such as old yellow Chartreuse, eucalyptus, forest floor, jasmine, pot pourri, crystalised fruits, lemon peel, sandalwood and all manner of subtle waxy complexities. With a splash of water there arises notes of freshly baked brown bread, tamarind paste, sunflower oil, toasted hazelnuts, botrytis, bramble jam and treacle tart. It could almost be a sherry matured whisky noted the Panel. The mouth is pristinely silky at first. Harmonious notes of dunnage, aged Sauternes, rancio, precious hardwoods, damp sack cloth, curry leaf, sultanas and mineral oil. Reduction gives ripe mandarin, Turkish delight, darjeeling tea, cinnamon balls, black pepper and lemon meringue pie. Majestic whisky! Matured for 26 years in a bourbon hogshead before transfer to a toasted second-fill hogshead.
