The nose neat evoked pleasant memories of relaxing and unwinding on a summer’s day in an ice cream parlour. The taste neat was creamy, milky, sweet and fruity like a Black Forest sundae – vanilla ice cream, Morello cherries, compote with mixed frozen berries, a dark chocolate sauce and plenty of whipped cream. When we added a drop of water we ordered an iced coffee with maple syrup accompanied by hazelnut ice cream petit fours and we finished by popping the cork from the bottle of a sparkling rose petal wine made with Champagne, lemon juice, cardamom and, of course, dried rose petals.
