An attractive nose – subtle peach, fruit pastilles and apricot jam; then so much sweet, floral, honey, nectar stuff you could be a bee; leather and sanded wood come later. The gentle, sophisticated palate gives smooth caramel, jam tarts and sherbet straws – the apricot jam is now on croissants. Very attractive notes of oak, liquorice and bitter lemon enhance the finish – a pleasure in the mouth and still a pleasure after it’s gone. The reduced nose finds flower petals, strawberry and chocolate-dipped marshmallows on a wooden platter. The palate is softer and sweeter – butterscotch, honey and ripe melon – lip-smacking, tasty and more-ish.
