The panel found this to be an unusually potent example of this distillery. With a nose that suggested heather burning in hospital corridors, marmite, hessian, ointment, pineapples and bracken in the rain. Water seemed to evoke farmyards, frying pancetta and mineral qualities with an undercurrent of chocolate gateaux and lemon thyme. To taste this was a big dram! Richly coastal and oily - like the texture of sheep wool - with notes of citrus, wet earth, smouldering bonfires and tar liqueur. Reduced it revealed aspects of gentian root, smoked grains, edible flowers, herbaceous qualities and the lick of a perfumed neck.
