Great news for Glaswegians and whisky lovers on the west side of Scotland’s Central Belt – the Society is finally coming to town!

Reading Time: 2 minutes

We’re coming to Glasgow! The SMWS is delighted to announce the imminent opening of our first Members’ Room at the other end of the M8, in Scotland’s biggest and most vibrant city (can you tell this was written by a Glaswegian?).

The Society’s Glasgow Members’ Room will be on Bath Street in the heart of the city centre, within a few minutes’ walk of Queen Street station, and if all goes to plan we’ll be throwing open the doors at the end of January next year.

An artist's impression of how the new Society Members' Room in Glasgow will look.

The venue will be exclusively for SMWS members, and will be open throughout the week from Tuesday to Sunday. We’ll be offering more than 300 Society bottlings, with a selection of the outstanding single cask, single malts available by the dram that you previously had to head east to Edinburgh to enjoy.

Our Glasgow Members’ Room will also have a fantastic range of special proprietary whiskies, as well as local beers and whisky-inspired cocktails. We’re setting up a mixture of relaxed lounge seating and a ‘Vaults Snug’, as well as more formal spaces. A dedicated tasting room will seat up to 10, and will also be available for private tastings. The Members’ Room will serve a bar food menu of snacks and tapas, with space to host up to 16 people for private dinners.

A new home-from-home for whisky lovers in Glasgow and the west side of the Central Belt is taking shape.

Right now, we’re busy giving our new space a special Society feel with a Glasgow twist, but keep your eyes peeled for some special previews and events. See you and your pals in Glasgow soon. Can’t wait….ya dancer!
